432 Presents…
Dr Feelgood
With such a good reception every time they play, Dr Feelgood can’t seem to stay away from Dumfries.
The R&B outfit that dominated the charts in the early 70s, return to the town for the fifth time when they visit the Live Lounge at The Venue at the end of the month.
Dumfries is the first stop of the band’s annual Scottish tour, where they have played to high acclaim.
Formed in Canvey Island, Essex, in the early 70s, Dr Feelgood’s raw and uncompromising style saw them soar to the top of the UK album charts with hits such as Down at the Doctors, Milk and Alcohol; Roxette and See you Later Alligator.
The band’s current line-up is drummer Kevin Morris; Steve Walwyn, lead guitar; Phil Mitchell on bass and charismatic Robert Kane on vocals and harmonica.
They will be ably supported by popular Dumfries Rory Gallagher tribute band, Against the Grain, with Doug Carroll on lead guitar and vocals.
Doug affectionately reproduces all the riffs, solos and gestures that were present in all of Rory’s live sets, while the remaining two thirds of the trio, Neil and Scott, will provide the driving, solid rhythm section.
The lads were invited back to Oslo in February to perform at the annual Rory Gallagher Convention and, in mid-May, they will be the opening act for blues guitarist Larry Miller and his band on the Scottish dates of his UK tour.
Dr Feelgood and Against the Grain play at The Venue, Dumfries, on Thursday, March 31, and the performance starts at 7.30pm.
